Casual and hardcore gamers alike should always consider playing this hand-held console. But if one only wants to prview the unique DS gaming experience, why not bring the Nintendo DS to the PC computer instead? Just for that, there are Nintendo DS emulators like DeSmuME.
Nintendo DS emulators, basically, emulates NDS software on another platform such as PC or Mac. The idea of emulating gaming platforms is not new however; there are emulators for Nintendo's NES, SNES, N64, GameBoy and GBA and Sony's PlayStation and Playstation 2. As for Nintendo DS emulators, there are quite a number of them available in the Internet. An example is the DeSmuME.

DeSmuME is derived from 'DS Emu' and 'ME' (which was a popular form for naming nds software, such as 'LoadME' and 'PassME'). Formerly known as YopYop DS, it is created by YopYop156 and is originally in French. Today DeSmuME is an open source Nintendo DS emulator with binaries for Linux, MAC OS and or couse Window. It is written in C++. YopYop156 stopped development on the DS emulator at version 0.0.3 because of amended French laws regarding emulation. The source code meanwhile was released in public domain. Several developers later released newer versions of the DeSmuME using YopYop156's source code.
DeSmuME DS Emulator supports save states and filters to improve image quality. It also has the ability to increase screen size. It emulates, almost perfectly, all known 2D graphics; has some small issues such as the color bit depths. All 3D features are also emulated using the software rasterizer, except wireframes and antialiasing. The sound features, including the microphone use, are supported. The DeSmuME also emulates direct video and audio recording; it has a built-in movie recorder. As for the WiFi, it is reported that the emulator can support Internet connection; but this is still experimental and in development. It is confirmed, albeit limited, that Mario Kart DS and Worms: Open Warfare 2 can be linked.
The DeSmuMe, and also other Nintendo DS emulators, can be ported to the PlayStation Portable. However, it is useless as the PSP doesn't have a touchscreen and the processor to emulate Nintendo DS games at full speed. But it shows that running a Nintendo DS software on PSP is possible. Nintendo Wii version of this emulator is also available! For Poke fans it is useful to know that this is also one of the best Pokemon emulators with mods that enable multiplayer linking for battles and trading.
As for compatibility issues, the DeSmuME lags behind NO$GBA. Smaller number of games is playable on it but still with video, audio and control errors; famous titles such as Super Mario and Pokemon are not yet supported. Overall the DeSmuME, and also other Nintendo DS emulators, are in need of development and experiment. The unique DS gaming experience is yet to be perfectly emulated.
How to Play Pokemon Black & White on DeSmuME
the simplest way to get to play Pokemon games on your computer without much hustle.
- First Download the Pokemon Black Rom and PoKeMoN White Version Rom
- Download the DeSmuME DS Emulator
- Extract the emulator in a folder where you want and create a folder for your games here in black and white, laid anywhere
Open the emulator and select the DS rom you want to start the game from, without any extra hacks needed like on no$gba you can simply open and PLAY. - SAVE GAMES - Now it is difficult, and many people may fail to notice this. Pokemon Black and White rom games do not save the regular in-game way on the DeSmuME. They will play it like crazy, up to 3 hours only to notice afterwards that the game can not be saved. No matter how many times you save the game, reset, believe me, or you can try it yourself.
Fortunately DeSmuEM has a nice little Save State feature that solves this problem.
First, in the top menu bar of desmume access the file, then save the state as, then save it in your name as you click and click Save. say, except at the beginning, before the first starter. Retsoring a save state bumps you back to the place in the game you where at before
Desmume emulator is very good. It can run at 1080p full screen mode, without delay, and at full 60 fps / sec clear image of course, you must activate the filter extension.

All generation 5 main series games have random number generators that can be manipulated to guarantee a desired set of stats and a desired nature on any Pokémon you acquire, including your starter. To get started using RNG manipulation for runs, first read and internalize the contents of the guide above. You will need to know nearly all of the information from that guide to proceed.
Once you understand the basics of RNG manipulation, you should practice hitting seeds - that is, starting at a time that you have determined, and getting the Pokémon that you intended to get. This is easiest to do on an existing save file late in the game, so that your IVs are easily apparent after catching a Pokémon. You want to have a ~50% success rate before trying to do it in a run.
At all times, the Smogon guide assumes that you're going to manipulate by saving and quitting to reset the clock. During a speedrun, you obviously cannot do this; you set the clock, then you must go through the entire New Game sequence before picking your starter. Mac word to pdf converter free download. This has two important effects:
- Your IVs are selected from IV frame 11, not 1.
- The PIDRNG is advanced by an inconsistent amount from the intended starting frame. Each seed has a fixed amount of PIDRNG frame advancement, but the amount is not consistent from seed to seed. In other words, you can't know what nature you will get from a seed until you test that seed.
PPRNG and RNG Reporter have easy functions for searching for stats on IV frame 11. However, neither program knows about the PIDRNG frame advancement caused by New Game. As such, you will need to generate seeds that give the desired IVs, and then test them one by one until you find one which gives the desired nature.

Pokemon Black 2 Desmume Download
If you are running these games from DeSmuME, you can still perform RNG manipulation. DeSmuME has DS parameters that are the same every time you run, including timer0. By default, DeSmuME uses your system clock in place of the DS clock. However, you may also use the 'Record Movie..' feature of DeSmuME, which allows you to specify a fixed start time without changing your system clock.
As a note, because DeSmuME's parameters are consistent, multiple runners can use the same start time to obtain the same starter. (This is different from console runs, where each runner must calculate a start time for him/herself since different DS consoles have different parameters.) The MAC address for all versions of DeSmuME is 00.09.BF.12.34.56.

Here is a table of parameters for different combinations of DeSmuME version and game (all parameters are for English only):
DeSmuME Version | Game | Timer0 | VCount | GxStat | VFrame |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
0.9.7 | Black | 604 | 2E | 6 | 5 |
0.9.7 | White | 61D | 2F | 6 | 5 |
0.9.8 | Black | 606 | 2E | 6 | 5 |

0.9.9 | Black | 608 | 2E | 6 | 5 |
0.9.9 | White | 621 | 2F | 6 | 5 |
Note that in DeSmuME 'Enabled Advanced Bus-Level Timing' must be enabled and 'Use dynamic recompiler' must be disabled in Emulation Settings for these parameters to be valid (these are the default settings).
If you wish to run these games in other languages, you can find a full listing of parameters here: Link
Once you've found a start time, there are two easy ways to manipulate the emulator RNG:
- Set your system clock to a time before your target time. Load the ROM in question. On the target second, hit Ctrl-R in DeSmuME to reload the game, and you're all set.
- Use File > Record Movie.., and set the start time in the dialog to your target time. This will record a DeSmuME movie file to your disk, which you may not want.
The 5th Gen RNG Suite Lua script can be used with DeSmuME for testing to see which seed you hit. To use it:
- Download the Lua dll files from here (32bit) or here (64bit).
- Extract lua5.1.dll and lua51.dll to your DeSmuME directory.
- Modify the second line of the script if you're using Black version.
- Open the ROM in DeSmuME, click Tools>Lua Scripting>New Lua Script Window.. and browse to the script.

Route
General tips
- Getting the fastest time depends on entering Twist Mountain during winter, and not getting hail on Route 7 or Route 8. For more information, see winter weather.
- The final trainer in Brycen's gym can be skipped by clipping through a rock: Video
- If you only have one of a particular item, using that item from the out-of-battle menu will trigger an extra text box (e.g. 'You used your last Potion.'). Using that item in a battle does not trigger any extra text.
- Certain music transitions caused by forced events (e.g. rival encounters) lag in a way that prevents other screen transitions. If one of these music transitions is occurring, you will experience lag on entering the menu and entering random encounters. (This does not apply to normal music transitions triggered by entering a new area or exiting a battle.)
- Using the touch screen for battle move selection is faster. Using the D-pad for out-of-battle menuing is faster, unless you have extremely precise stylus aim. (Exception: Fly destination selection is faster with the stylus.)
Black vs. White
There is very little difference between the two versions when it comes to speedrunning. The layout of Opelucid City is slightly different, but it makes no difference in terms of run time. The main difference is that Reshiram has superior Special Attack (150 vs. Zekrom's 120) and Special Defense (120 vs. Zekrom's 100). If you play on Black, you get Reshiram and have a slightly higher chance of two-hitting Zekrom with DragonBreath. If you play on White, you get Zekrom and may take up to three extra turns (one for N to heal to full, then two more to finish him off).
Aside from the legendary dragon difference, there is effectively no reason to choose one game over the other for speedrunning.
